Gifts that Don't Cost A Cent

In today's economic times we are all looking for ways to save, save, save!  Here are some ways to give a gift without involving dollars.  The rewards will be greater than when a child on Christmas morning who received "the gift", find more enjoyment with the box then the prize purchased. Practical...see what you think:

THE GIFT OF LISTENING... But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening.

THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.

THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.

THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT... A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.

THE GIFT OF A FAVOR... Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.

THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE... There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.

THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION... The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank You.

The GIFT of OURSELVES.  Small happenings in our daily lives are priceless!  May you see them and know what a "gift" they are from God.

Have a wonderful week!

Great ideas, Tina!! As a mom with a young family that tries to make it on mostly one income, I have always tried to give gifts that don't cost as much -- but I have also found that they are often more appreciated than expensive "things" you can buy at the store.

I have tried to "keep it simple" throughout the years. Sometimes I do/did and sometimes I fell short. I love being reminded of how precious the simple things in life are. That is the main reason I dabble in blogging. I hope to remind myself through my blogging that God provides us with greater riches than all the advertising and "keeping of with the Jones" could ever satisfy us. There is a song called "How You Live" by point of Grace. It wonderful lyrics. I may have to "write" a bit on that one day. There is a line "get what you want, but want what you get". Totally fits our society!!

Thanks for "stopping by" my babblings!
